It has been kind of busy around here with doing hay. First the field has to be mowed. After we mow it the hay then has to dry some. We dry it till it is around 60 percent moisture. After it is dry enough we have Abby merge it. We put several win rows into one.
Then it is ready for my hubby to start chopping it! He drives the chopper while someone else drives the dump truck along side of him. We have either 2 or 3 trucks going to keep up with the chopper.
When the truck is full it is then taken to the bunk to dump off and be packed into a pile.
Ben gets the fun job of driving the tractor "pushing pile". After we are finished with this cutting of hay we then cover the pile. That will be a whole nother post though!

Just life~
Today the guys were busy chopping haylage for the big pile that we feed the cows off from all year. It was beautiful out, perfect for drying it to the right moisture needed to put it up! I didn't get out there to take any pictures, but they will still be doing it next week so I will try and get some then!
I am not out in the barn as much yet, since Edi is only 5 weeks old. She is the happiest baby!
Tonight I took her out in the stroller for a walk! I took my camera out to get a few pictures of the girls doing chores! Hope you enjoy them!
I have been trying to get more photos to upload.... but my Internet isn't wanting to work. I guess this will have to be enough for now.

Spring
I has been kind of busy around here lately. We have been adjusting to our new little bundle. I can't believe she is going go be a month old tomorrow. Where does time go?
Here is a picture of one of the fields getting planted! As we are planting we apply a starter fertilizer to help get the seed going! And as with anything we do, the guys have it equipment set so we add just the right amount!
Hope you are all having a safe spring!
Edi is growing like a weed and is still a big hit with all of her siblings!
With all of this nice weather we are having it sure makes long days for my guys. Last week we had the tankers out to put manure on the fields. My hubby keeps records of how much we put on each field so he knows exactly how much nitrogen is available for the corn. As soon as the manure is applied we then worked it in .
If the fields don't have enough nitrogen on them we knife some more into the ground. Corn needs nitrogen to grow~ After it is knifed in, we then have the field worked. (Sorry I didn't get a picture of that step) The ground is then ready to plant! Here is a picture of one of the fields getting planted! Hope you are all having a safe spring!
