finishing up silage

Today we finished up our corn silage!  We are so thankful for the great crop of corn we got this year!
these are just a couple pictures of packing the pile today.  My hubby is out measuring it so we can run and get some plastic to cover it with!  Tomorrow will be fun covering the pile~ it is a 1900 ton pile.  Or 40' wide  X 250' long.....  hmmmm what can I find to be busy with so I don't have to throw tires?  LOL I will try and get some picture!

Corn Silage

We have really been blessed this year.  With as dry as this summer has been God has sent enough rain to get a great crop of corn!
We started chopping it today!  It is sure a nice feeling knowing that we will have enough silage to make it through the year!
Hope everyone has a safe harvest this year!

Our 4th

It was so nice to take part of the day off to celebrate the 4th!  We also celebrated my mother in laws birthday.  We had a cook out our place with a few friends.  Followed by heading out to the lake to do some water skiing!
The girls got lots of sun!
I don't think I could ever get tired of looking at the lake it is just beautiful!

those that weren't out on the boat enjoyed floating around on the lake!
Elli even fell asleep out on the raft!
Then most of my guys had to head home to do up chores.  Abby~calves, Cassi~ feed and milk the goats, Liza and M~ milk cows, Ben~feed the cows. That left me with the 2 little girls at the lake.

I had the easy part!  They both slept!  After chores were finished they all headed back to the lake and we had a bonfire on the beach and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows!
The guys even did a little firework show for us!

Wool Soakers

I have been spending my free time doing a little sewing!  I have been working on diaper covers and wool soakers for our little Edi!  They have sure been fun to make!  Here are a few picture of a few of them!  I love how they work!!

Around the farm!

I went out for a walk tonight and took a few pictures of the girls doing chores.  I thought I would share some of them with you!
Elli wishing she could take the mule for a spin......  sorry hun!

Cassi taking grain out to feed the goats.

Looks like someone is sleeping on the job.  Glad we make sure the cows have a nice dry place to sleep!

Working Hard...

This morning was spent putting some baled hay up into the hay mow.  Thought you might like to see a few pictures!
Elli wanted you to see how tall everything is!
She really wanted to be part of "working"
Even if it was WAY to heavy to lift....
M~M and Cassi got to be on the wagon handing the bales down to their dad.
Dad then puts the bales on the convayer that takes them up to the mow.
once in the mow we have 2 guys up there stacking the hay!  I would have taken pictures of that, BUT I had the baby in the front pack.  It is WAY to hard climbing the ladder to the mow with a baby on front of you!
We have a lot more hay to put up to feed the baby calves and horses all winter.  But for now we have a good start!
