Goats milk soap |
48 oz of lard or shortening
32 oz coconut oil
16 oz olive oil
12 oz lye
In a container put goats milk and then the lye. (I do this outside because it has a strong smell)
Stir it till the lye dissolves. ( It will turn almost an orange color)
The lye mixture becomes hot.... add to it your lard stirring till it melts.
Then add the coconut oil and olive oil. Stir till it traces......
At this time you can pour it into a mold or container, or I add at this time 1 1/2 cups oats and 1-2 teaspoons of cinnamon or cloves.
This will fill about a 11X17" container. Grease your container with either your coconut oil or lard. Pour your soap into the container. Then cover it with a lid & a towel. Let set for around 2 hours, and then cut into bars. They won't be all of the way set yet, but if you don't cut them you won't be able to get the knife through it later~ Leave for a few more hours till they are set.... take out and let air dry a little longer. Your soap is now ready to use! It does last longer if you let it air dry for around 3 weeks.....
Hope you enjoy this natural soap~ we sure do!
